It's lighter than the plastic floorboard, dry oak is light and its been planed down. They are not fastened yet, the upper will use the stock mounting locations. The two sections will have a piece of metal shaped and joining the two. The lower piece will bolt up to the stock locations as well. I'm figuring out a few pieces of steel to trim it all up. I was also thinking I'd cut out the shape of the gas tank, paint it black and just have it surrounded by the oak. I may get the guts to do this today. I usually have to sleep on it and the answer comes to me in my subconsicous. We'll see. And in real life the wood is really dark, I guess the flash brings out the oak.
That's a little better. Yeah, I might totally cut out the shape of the gas tank. Why the hell not, I can allways make another if I don't like it. _________________ Check out my garage & please rate my Scoot!

well, if you can make another, i guess there's no harm, but the flat floor with the cap sticking out shows off the beauty and strength of the wood.
the slab of wood with it's center cut out just to show a gas tank isn't my bag. i just never thought the ruckus tank was that awesome to look at
it will be interesting to see some bolts or other steel band/rivet accents on this thing.
just don't make it look like a barrel!
-that said, i'd still love to see someone steampunk their ruck out
-strip all their frame down to raw steel, use brass bolts and fixtures- get a brown leather seat-
use your patented wood floor, maybe paint the batt box a rich realistic copper color and make the seam look riveted,
replace the fenders with shaped aluminum or something-
basically replace any and all plastic you can.
you can use your imagination.
but i digress, you're inspiring me. if only i had a second ruckus... _________________ totalruckus's biggest footpeg advocate and

No F-in way. I just mentioned to Jason at Battlescooter last friday that I wanted to make a mold and shape one up like a sk8 deck, then grip tape it.
Looks badass TR- bamboo flooring would look cool too. |

Not yet. I'm going to do that when I get a paint colour I like. I brought home some copper paint yesterday, but didn't like the colour, so I'm going to try to get a metallic brown. I just contacted luimoto to try to get a brown/black seat cover _________________ Check out my garage & please rate my Scoot!

Awesome! wish I had seen this before I bought my frame brace. It would fit well with my Pirate ship theme.

Hey ThunderstRuck,
I'm thinking about doing a beech floorboard. You don't happen to have a scaled template of your cut on paper (scanned) or anything do you?
Any recommendations or FYIs on how I should approach this?
Any notes about how I should go about doing it. I have decent carpentry skills, and use a jigsaw and festool on a regular basis.
Your bike looks amazing. |
