Ok,....so as many know,...from the BR meet in Pa,....my BR was looking somewhat 'Harleyish',....
So,..i ordered all the gaskets required, head gasket, base gasket, valve seals, etc,...& took it to my local Yami shop and had them put it in. Took it for a drive the night before last,....and my throttle cable was sticking,...not alittle...ALOT!...at wide-open, you let off,...it stayed wide open...
So,....today i stripped her down,....every panel,...sides, front, gas tank area, battery-box...it ALL came off, so i could get a good look at what was going on. Come to find out, the clamp that holds the carb to the head, was rotated about 1/4 turn too far, and the tightening screws were hitting the bracket for the throttle linkage,....what a stupid fucking fix!...
So,...while i was in there....i saw a fresh drop of antifreeze on the head, under a rubber hose,...not routed through its intended spot,...so i routed it where it was to go,..then found that the wire-clamp had almost no tention,....so out came a zip-tie,....problem fixed.
Now,...in the middle of putting her all back together, then do a proper valve adjustment,...I'm willing to bet its off alittle.....ya think??....
OK,...so I'm doing this this afternoon,....and i'll be out riding tonight,..oh,...& i'm going to swap in the 10% spring into that Reflex driven pulley today too, so i'll tell more later tonight, or tomorrow....in the BR performance, under variator comparisons........... _________________ Ride'er like ya stole'er! |

Hey Sawman! Glad to see you decided to keep the BR and have it back on the road.
Personally, I'd rather be riding and wenching rather than wrenching!
Hope to tip a few with you some day! _________________ "Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before." |

Ok....so i went for a nice little rip around town last night,..worked awesome!
The valve clearances were off!....the exhaust valve had no clearance, the intake had half a graduation,....so i set them both for one-line-width under a full graduation.....
The 10% spring did just what i was suspecting it would....it kept the driven pulley from upshifting too fast,...RPM was up alittle,..seemed nice'n zippy,..similar to the way my BR has felt for the last several months,...still,....the Reflex drive definetly has a 'different' feel,...not really "better"...or "worse"....just different...
I wound-it-out on the highway a couple times,...pulled it up to a true 68 MPH,....not really too bad,...considering I'm running 19g weights, with a 10% stronger spring in the rear....
As well,....I hear my J. Costa is on its way from Italy, and hopefully will be in my grimey hands within a week or so!... .....can't wait to try it with my driven pulley set-up!.... _________________ Ride'er like ya stole'er!

Well, in my GoldWing days, Ive been to "Aspencade East", (now called Americade). Daytona Speed Week lots of times (love that!), and through Sturgis...but not at Rally time...darn!...I just had to see how small Sturgis really was... Honda HomeComing, practically in my back yard, only about 30 miles away, but this will probably become extinct since they're relocating bike production back to Japan... AMA Hertiage Days, again almost in my backyard..only an hour+ away...
So, yes, I am considering attending CarolinaCON.. it's only 7+ hours away and I love Southern cooking! I recently ordered some accessories for the BR to make it more road worthy... I need to get in touch with Mizzle and see if the Stepthrough V4 is still happening...
Hope to see you there! _________________ "Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before." |
